Deans' Seminar Series to Present Nov. 28 Neighborhood-Action Workshop
Whitworth College and Eastern Washington University will present a neighborhood-action workshop on Nov. 28 as part of the institutions' Deans' Seminar Series. The seminar series is presented through the collaboration of Kyle Usrey, dean of the School of Global Commerce & Management at Whitworth, and Rex Fuller, dean of the College of Business and Public Administration at EWU.
The workshop will include a presentation of findings from market-research surveys designed to determine customer interest in Spokane's emerging "Theme District" neighborhoods; panel presentations on what is working in revitalizing distressed neighborhoods in other cities; and developing ideas and strategies for the revitalization of Spokane's East Central, Emerson-Garfield, Hillyard, North Hill and West Central neighborhoods.
The workshop will take place from 6-8 p.m. at Riverpoint Campus Health & Science Building, Room 110 C&D. Admission is free. Parking is available in Yellow Lot #2 on Spokane Falls Boulevard, next to The WSU Bookie. Workshop panelists include Larry Davis, staff member of the Business Resource Center at the EWU College of Business; Tom Reese, project director of Kendall Yards; Kyle Usrey, dean of Whitworth's School of Global Commerce & Management; and Steve Cervantes, executive director of Northeast Washington Housing Solutions.
Located in Spokane, Wash., Whitworth is a private, liberal arts college affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). The college, which has an enrollment of 2,500 students, offers more than 50 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
