Deans' Seminar Series to Host Feb. 23 Lecture by Media Entrepreneur Jim Rogers
Whitworth College and Eastern Washington University will sponsor a lecture by entrepreneur Jim Rogers Feb. 23 as part of the institutions' Deans' Seminar Series. The series is presented through the collaboration of Kyle Usrey, dean of the School of Global Commerce & Management at Whitworth, and Rex Fuller, dean of the College of Business and Public Administration at EWU.
Rogers will discuss entrepreneurship in the media and higher-education industries during his lecture on Friday, Feb. 23, at 5:30 p.m. in the Eric Johnston Science Center Auditorium at Whitworth College. Admission is free. For more information, please call (509) 777-4585.
Rogers is the founder and owner of Valley Broadcasting Company. Its parent company, Sunbelt Communications Company, owns and operates 16 NBC and FOX affiliate television stations in five western states. Since May 2005, Rogers has served as chancellor of the University and Community College System of Nevada.
He holds degrees in accounting and law from the University of Arizona and a master of laws degree from the University of Southern California. Rogers was a teaching fellow in the law school of the University of Illinois from 1963-64, and practiced law in Las Vegas from 1964-88.
Located in Spokane, Wash., Whitworth is a private, liberal arts college affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). The college, which has an enrollment of 2,500 students, offers 53 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
