"X-Men" Producer Ralph Winter to Kick Off
Faith, Film and Philosophy Lecture Series Sept. 26-28

The Weyerhaeuser Center for Christian Faith & Learning at Whitworth University and the Faith and Reason Institute at Gonzaga University are co-hosting a Faith, Film and Philosophy Lecture Series Sept. 26-28. The purpose of the series is to encourage students and community members to explore the complex relationships between faith and reason in contemporary culture, film and literature. The lectures are free and open to the public.

Following is lecture information for the Faith, Film and Philosophy Series:

  • Wednesday, Sept. 26, at 8 p.m.
    Lecture, "The Storytelling Landscape: The Challenges for a Christian in Hollywood," by film producer Ralph Winter, who has produced films including "X-Men," "Fantastic Four" and "Planet of the Apes"
    Cowles Auditorium at Whitworth University           
  • Thursday, Sept. 27, at 7 p.m.
    Lecture, "Spiritual Quests in the Films of M. Night Shyamalan," by Thomas Hibbs, professor of ethics and culture, and dean of the Honors College at Baylor University
    Wolff Auditorium, Jepson School of Business, Gonzaga University
  • Friday, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m.
    Lecture, "'Gattacca,' 'The Truman Show,' and 'S1M0NE': The Platonic Vision of Andrew Niccolby," by Michael Foley, professor of philosophy and theology at Baylor University
    Wolff Auditorium, Jepson School of Business, Gonzaga University
