McMurray Appointed to Alumni/Parent Relations, Fundraising Role at Whitworth
Whitworth University has appointed Aaron McMurray, a 1995 alumnus and longtime Young Life administrator in the Spokane region, to serve as Director of Alumni and Parent Relations/Annual Giving and Special Gifts. He begins Oct. 23.
In his new role, McMurray will direct Whitworth's alumni and parent activities, with the goal of engaging as many alumni and parents of current and former students as possible with the university. He also will manage the office of alumni and parent relations/annual giving and special gifts and will be involved in fundraising for strategic university initiatives.
"Aaron McMurray brings over a decade of experience working in Young Life Ministry and in the business world to his new position as Director, Alumni and Parent Relations/Annual Giving and Special Projects at Whitworth," said Kristi Burns, vice president for institutional advancement. "Aaron is a servant leader who firmly believes in Whitworth's heart-and-mind mission."
Previously, McMurray served as area director for Young Life Greater Spokane from 1997 to 2002 and regional director for Young Life Inland Northwest from 2002 to 2007. Most recently he oversaw Internet sales and information systems as a systems support manager for DAA Northwest of Spokane, a large automobile dealers' auction business.
McMurray received a B.A. in history from Whitworth in 1995 and a master of arts in organizational leadership from Gonzaga University in 2000. He expects to complete a Ph.D. in leadership studies at Gonzaga later this year.
Located in Spokane, Wash., Whitworth is a private, liberal arts university affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). The university, which has an enrollment of 2,600 students, offers 53 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.
