Areas of Specialization / Expertise:

Teacher education assessment (performance-based programs, documenting positive impact on student learning). University assessment: Serves as Whitworth’s Accreditation Liaison Officer with Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. Co-chairs Whitworth’s Student Success Team.


Selected Publications / Presentations / Honors:

Served as representative to numerous boards and committees in Washington State regarding teacher education. These include state endorsement development, evaluation of university programs, exam competency development, and chair of Whitworth’s Professional Education Advisory Board.

Co-author, chapter "Documenting Positive Impact on Student Learning: A Pre-Service through Professional Continuum," published in Teacher Education Yearbook (2004). Numerous presentations at American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education, Association of Independent Liberal Arts Colleges of Teacher Education, Northwest Math Conference, and Northwest Conference on Computer Education.

Co-author of $625,000 grant to the Murdock Foundation that first brought technology on a broad scale to the Whitworth campus.


Awarded the Whitworth Teaching Excellence Award for 2002.

Recipient of Whitworth’s annual Faculty Service Award.
