She is an accomplished director whose professional credits include Portland's Tapestry Theatre and the Spokane Civic Theatre. |

Directed A Funny Thinig happened on the Way to the Forum, a musical by Stephen Sondhiem, at the Spokane Civic Theatre (2009). Directed the premiere of Dusk, a play by Bryan Harnetiaux, at Spokane Civic Theatre (2007); creator and director, in collaboration with Whitworth students, of Mirror, Mirror, a play about body image issues that has toured in Washington, Oregon and California; creator and director of The Abundance Project, a performance piece and series of workshops commissioned by The Inland Northwest Presbyterian Church for its annual regional youth retreat; received the Association for American Community Theatre's national award for Best Production and Best Director for Lonely Planet (1999). Publications include "Freshman Seminar: Teaching Social Justice through Interactive Theatre," an article for on-line Murdoch publication(2006); "Our Fierce Intent: Drama, Community & Healing," in Christianity & Theatre (1997). Presentations include "Revitalizing the Theatre History Survey Course" for the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE) National Conference, New Orleans (2007); "Acting Like Jesus: The Incarnational Nature of Theatre," Core 650 lecture in Santa Barbara, Calif. (2007), San Francisco, Calif. (2006), Portland, Ore. and Seattle, Wash. (2005); "Playing in the Spirit: InterPlay for Pastors," a three-day workshop during a retreat for Presbyterian women pastors, Harmony Hill, Wash. (2005); team-taught a week-long workshop, "Augusto Boal's Forum Theatre for Christian Theatre Artists," at the CITA National Conference, in Oakland, Calif. (2002). |
