Personal Page: Mark S. Ellis
As the database administrator for the Datatel Benefactor Financial Resources System, Mark keeps the Benefactor system up and running. He provides upgrades to the Benefactor System and completes systems analysis tasks as requested by Institutional Advancement. Mark spends some time in the UNIX systems programming area as well. He provides oversight for the database integrity issues and interfaces the Benefactor system to outside software. The Benefactor system keeps information on the college's alumni, donors, past and present parents, corporations, trusts, foundations, estates and community friends. Mark is also an adjunct faculty for the Math and Computer Science Department at Whitworth. He teaches mostly upper division computer science courses, specializing in computer architecture. As a United States Naval Reserve Submarine Officer, Mark recently completed command of a Trident Submarine Security Unit attached to Commander Submarine Group Nine, at Subase Bangor, Wash. He is currently the Commanding Officer of Submarine Group Nine Det 522 which includes the Trident SSN submarines. This command is at Submarine Base Bangor. He also assists the Commander Submarine Forces Pacific (COMSUBPAC) Submarine Force Management Assistance Team where civilian management techniques and technologies are studied for implementation by the Navy in submarine management settings. In his spare time, he enjoys camping and Blues Festivals.
