Commencement Week Activities for Undergraduate Degree Candidates

Friday, May 9
5 p.m. ROTC Commissioning Ceremony
Gonzaga University
A combined commissioning ceremony for graduating ROTC students from Whitworth University and Gonzaga University.


Friday, May 16
6 p.m. English Department Senior Reading
Music Building, Recital Hall
This is the time to celebrate the works that graduating English majors have created in their capstone class. Students on the writing track will read their poetry, fiction and creative nonfiction, while students on the literature track will briefly share their portfolios through an audiovisual presentation.
8 p.m. Senior Communion and Commissioning Service
Cowles Auditorium
All seniors, parents and guests invited. This worship service includes faculty and student reflections on shared experiences of Christian faith, as well as the opportunity to pray for the members of the Class of 2014. Communion will be served.


Saturday, May 17
10 a.m.-noon Senior Art Exhibit
Lied Center for the Visual Arts, Bryan Oliver Gallery
Closing reception begins at 11 a.m.
11:30 a.m.-
1 p.m.
Buffet for undergraduate candidates, families and friends
$8 per person. Please pay at event.
3 p.m. Senior Honors Recital
Seeley Mudd Chapel
Musical performances by members of the Class of 2014.
8 p.m. Senior Reflections
Cowles Auditorium
Everyone is invited to enjoy a showcase of senior-class talent. Many of the university's awards for outstanding seniors will be presented here, along with the annual senior slide show, a Whitworth tradition. This event is free of charge.


Sunday, May 18
10 a.m. Baccalaureate Service
Whitworth Fieldhouse
11 a.m.-1 p.m. Brunch for graduates, families and friends
HUB, Dining Hall
$8 per person. Please pay at event.
3 p.m. Commencement for Undergraduate Degree Candidates
Spokane Arena, 720 W. Mallon Ave.
Open seating. There is a fee for parking at the arena.
