Whitworth has maintained a covenant relationship with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) for every one of the university's 116 years. Today, Whitworth is among a select number of institutions that have been given the denomination's designation of "pervasively Presbyterian," and is one of only six PCUSA-affiliated schools with membership in the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. Among Presbyterian CCCU schools, Whitworth is the largest and highest-ranked by U.S. News & World Report and is the only such institution west of the Rocky Mountains.
