Art Scholarships

Art has been one of Whitworth’s fastest-growing majors over the past five years. The Lied Center for the Visual Arts, which opened in 2008, features large studios for glass, sculpture and ceramics, drawing, painting, and printmaking, as well as a Mac lab for graphic design. The facility also features a student gallery and a main gallery for special exhibitions of regional and national artists. Professionally active faculty members, whose works are exhibited locally and nationwide, encourage students to immerse themselves intellectually and spiritually in the creative process.

This spring Whitworth University will award Art Talent Scholarship Awards to entering freshmen and transfer students who demonstrate interest and potential to excel as art majors at Whitworth. If you have an interest in the arts, please apply!

To be eligible for an Art Talent Award, applicants must:

  • Be admitted to Whitworth University.
  • Be actively considering majoring in Art.
  • Enroll in at least one art or art history class each semester of their freshman year
  • Submit the required documents as outlined in the Application Form (PDF)

Your application materials should be submitted by FEB. 1, 2015, to:

Art Department c/o Dee Anna Christianson
Whitworth University
300 W Hawthorne Road
Spokane, WA 99251 OR
dchristiansen@whitworth.edu

Talent Award recipients are given half of the award amount in the fall and half in the spring. Talent Awards are given for one year only, but freshman recipients are eligible to receive awards in subsequent years based on their participation and performance in the art department. Students are selected for awards based on demonstrated interest and ability; financial need may be considered in setting the award amounts. Talent Award Scholarships apply to Whitworth tuition only.

We look forward to hearing from you.
