Click here for complete box score UNIVERSITY PLACE, Wash. - With the bench getting more floor minutes than the starting five, visiting Whitworth rolled to a 77-46 win at Walla Walla University in a non-conference women's college basketball contest on Sunday afternoon.
The Pirate starters played 96 minutes, while the bench contributed 104 minutes of playing time during the game, which came at the end of final exams for Whitworth. Natalie Orrell (Jr., G, Wenatchee, Wash.) led the Bucs with 17 points, while Cassie Pilkinton (Jr., G, Chelan, Wash.) added 14 and Liz Horiatis (So., P, Woodinville, Wash.) contributed 10 points. Tiffany Corigliano (Sr., P, Nine Mile Falls, Wash.) tied for game-high honors in rebounds with eight, and Leah Pomante (Jr., G, Colbert, Wash.) led all players with five assists. Kim Bluff (Jr., G, Cusick, Wash.) led the players off of the Pirate bench with 10 points and six rebounds. Heather McFadden and Victoria Novielli led the Wolves with 12 and 11 points, respectively. Whitworth (6-3) held Walla Walla (1-11) to 33% shooting from the field and outrebounded the Wolves 39-23 to allow the Pirates to take 18 more shots from the floor and 13 more attempts from the free throw line than their hosts. Whitworth also forced 24 Walla Walla turnovers. The Pirates will now be off until the beginning of January when the team will host George Fox (Friday, Jan. 2nd) and Pacific (Saturday, Jan. 3rd) to open Northwest Conference play.
