LEWISTON, Idaho - Whitworth University can only take ten men and ten women to next week's Northwest Conference Championship meet in Oregon. Therefore, several runners who will not participate in next week's meet completed their season at today's Lewis-Clark State College Invite at Hells Gate State Park. The six Pirate women running in the meet took fourth place out of five teams. The team scores were: Lewis-Clark State 23, Carroll 73, Great Falls 78, Whitworth 89, Westminster 96. Kathryn Williams was Whitworth's leading runner, taking 9th place with a time of 19:07 on the five kilometer course. Annie Brinson was 20th in 19:43, while Karissa Thomsen followed in 21st (19:49) and Kim Henderson was right behind in 22nd (20:12). Elise Page took 34th place in 21:27 and Adrienne Ritchie was 35th in 21:42. There were 41 runners in the women's meet. The five Pirate men also took fourth place out of five teams. The team scores were: LCSC 17, Carroll 74, Westminster 84, Whitworth 97, Great Falls 102. Bryan Jones (27:14) and Christopher Baldwin (27:25) led the Pirates in 19th and 20th place, respectively, on the eight kilometer course. Nicholas Rawson was 27th in 27:58 and Tyler Alsin was 30th in 28:50. Justin Jones crossed the line in 39th place with a time of 31:33. There were 45 competitors in the men's race. The Northwest Conference Championships will take place next Saturday at Willamette Mission State Park with George Fox University as the host.
