SPOKANE, Wash. - Junior Andrew Parrott (Scottsdale, Ariz. - Desert Mountain) came from two shots behind after the first day to win medalist honors in the NWC Washington Fall Tournament, leading the Whitworth Pirates to a men's team victory in the event. Parrott shot an even par 72 on the first day (Sunday) at Deer Park Golf Course, then fired a two-over 74 to lead all players in Monday's round at Spokane Country Club. Parrott's score of 146 was two strokes better than first day leader Chris Packard of PLU, who shot 70-78 - 148. Jordan Carter (Jr., Woodinville, Wash. - Inglemoore) was fifth overall as an individual, shooting 74-79 - 153. The Pirate men shot 293 at Deer Park and 311 at SCC to win with a team score of 604. Puget Sound was second with a score of 621. The young Pirate women's team had a solid showing, finishing second to NWC title contender UPS. The Loggers scored 327-350 - 677, Whitworth scored 347-367 - 714, while PLU tallied 349-375 - 724. Alicia Bratlien (Fr., Poulsbo, Wash. - North Kitsap) and Krystal Pitkonen (Fr., Colbert, Wash. - Northwest Christian) tied for fourth place individually. Bratlien shot 85-88 - 173, while Pitkonen carded 87-86 - 173. Emily Lau of UPS won the event with a score of 77-84 - 161. The Whitworth men have a dual match with Gonzaga on Friday (Oct. 13) at Hangman Valley GC. The crucial upcoming events are the NWC Falls Classics on October 22-23. The women will play at Tokatee GC in Blue River, Oregon, while the men will compete at Aspen Lakes GC in Sisters, Oregon.
