BLUE RIVER, Ore. - Whitworth finished sixth at the 2009 Northwest Conference men's golf tournament at Tokatee Golf Course on Sunday, moving up one spot on the final day of competition. With its sixth-place finish, the Pirates end up in fifth place in the final NWC golf standings.
Click here for results of the NWC Tournament. Jeff Aly led the Pirates individually with a two-day score of 156 (82-74) to finish 12th individually in the tournament. Pacific University's Max Bonk claimed NWC Player of the Year honors after winning the individual title with a 70-75 - 145. The Pirates totaled 331-314 - 644 in the tournament. In addition to Aly's round, James Dykes (78), Ryan Young (80) and Curtis Day (81) posted counting scores on Sunday. The other final individual totals for Whitworth in the tournament were: Young 83-80 - 163, Jacob McCallum 80-83 - 163, Dykes 86-78 - 164, and Day 89-81 - 170. The final team scores were: Linfield 303-301 - 604, Pacific Lutheran 314-299 - 613, Puget Sound 311-304 - 615, Pacific (Ore.) 306-312 - 618, Whitman 315-322 - 637, Whitworth 331-313 - 644, Willamette 323-327 - 650, George Fox 343-327 - 670.
