Crowe scored the

HAYWARD, Calif. -- Whitworth University completed a California sweep on Sunday, winning 2-1 at Cal State East Bay in a non-conference women's soccer match. The 10th-ranked Pirates improved to 3-0 on the season after winning at 22nd-ranked UC Santa Cruz on Friday at over the Pioneers today.

Penelope Crowe (Sr., F, Bellingham, Wash.) scored the match winning goal for Whitworth in the 57th minute when she secured a loose ball and scored from short range. It is Crowe's second goal of the season.

In the first half Kelly Baker (Sr., D, Boise, Idaho) converted a penalty kick in the 30th minute that tied the match 1-1. It was the second straight game that Whitworth rallied from an early 1-0 deficit to win.

The Pirates controlled the action, outshooting the Pioneers (3-2) 24-11, including a 17-6 edge in shots on goal. Callie Bergstrom (Fr., GK, Spokane, Wash.) made six saves, including four in the second half, to preserve the win.

Whitworth will play its home opener, and the final non-conference game of 2008, on Thursday when the Pirates host Wisconsin-Whitewater at 1:30 p.m.
