SPOKANE, Wash. -- Coming off of a successful trip to California, the Whitworth University women's soccer team has risen five spots to fifth in the most recent NSCAA/adidas® NCAA Women's Division III National Poll.

The Pirates won 2-1 at UC Santa Cruz and 2-1 at Cal State East Bay last weekend, improving to 3-0 this season. All three of the teams Whitworth has defeated this season are ranked in the top 10 of the NSCAA Division III West Region ratings.

The Bucs will play host to Wisconsin-Whitewater on Thursday afternoon (1:30 p.m.) in an inter-sectional match up. The Warhawks are 2-1 following a 5-0 victory over Lakeland College last Saturday. It is the first-ever meeting between the schools.

Defending NCAA Division III champion Wheaton (Ill.) is still ranked first in the poll, while fellow NWC-member Puget Sound fell from 5th to 14th.
