Whitworth University is ranked 10th in the first regular season NSCAA/adidas NCAA Division III women's poll of 2008, heading into a tough trip to California.

The Pirates, coming off of a season-opening 2-0 win over Chapman University, head to California for a Friday afternoon rematch against 22nd-ranked UC Santa Cruz. Whitworth defeated the Banana Slugs 2-1 in overtime in the first round of the 2007 NCAA Division III tournament. The Bucs will play at Cal State East Bay (2-0) on Sunday morning.

Defending NCAA Division III champion Wheaton (Ill.) is still ranked first in the poll, while fellow NWC-member Puget Sound is ranked 5th.
