Pirate Women Hold 9th Place on 2nd Day at Husky

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. -- Whitworth University's women continued to hold on to ninth place at the University of Washington Husky Invitational on Friday night at the King County Aquatic Center.

Samantha Kephart and Natalie Turner has the Pirates' highest individual finishes on Friday. Kephart finished 16th in the 100 yard Butterfly with a time of 57.01 after posting an Northwest Conference-best mark of 56.89 in the morning preliminaries. Turner took 18th in the 200 yard Freestyle with a conference-best time of 1:52.41. Ashley Leqoc (1:00.01) finished 32nd in the 100 Butterfly.

The Pirate women finished 11th in the 200 yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:55.00. The Bucs were 9th in the 800 yard Freestyle Relay with a mark of 7:50.83.

The Whitworth men had four individual scorers on Friday night. Michael Woodward took 29th in the 100 yard Breaststroke with a time of 1:00.25. Luke Stocker (56.59) was 29th in the 100 yard Backstroke. Aden Coleman (58.65) and Josh McDowell (59.72) were 31st and 32nd, respectively, in the 100 Back.

The Pirate men were 9th in the 200 yard Medley Relay (1:39.93) and 9th in the 800 Free Relay (7:03.41).

The Whitworth women are still in 9th place out of 12 teams. The scores are: USC 899, Washington 831,
Notre Dame 611.5, UC Santa Barbara 439, Oregon State 397, Wyoming 310, Hawaii 190.5, UC Davis 169, Whitworth 142, Boise State 129, Seattle 126, UPS 64.

The Pirate men are in 9th place out of 10 teams. The scores are: Michigan 1133.5, California 759, USC 621, Washington 541.5, UC Santa Barbara 380, Hawaii 375, Wyoming 269, Seattle 222, Whitworth 162, UPS 87.

The meet concludes on Saturday with prelims in the morning and finals in the evening.
