SALEM, Ore. -- At the completion of the fall dual meet schedule, the Whitworth University men extended their Northwest Conference dual meet winning streak to 53 in a row and the Pirate women rolled to their 11th straight NWC win on Saturday afternoon at Willamette University. Click here for complete results. The Whitworth men won every event except for the 1,000 Freestyle (the only race in which the Pirates did not have a competitor) on the way to a 132-45 win. The Whitworth men, who are now 5-1 overall and 4-0 in the NWC this season, have not lost a conference dual meet since the 1998-99 season. Like Friday night's dual meet at Lewis & Clark, the Whitworth women trailed 20-6 early after losing the 400 Medley Relay and not having a swimmer in the 1,000 Freestyle. But the Pirates dominated from that point, winning 129-65. Whitworth is now 6-0 overall and 4-0 in the NWC this season, raising its conference dual meet winning streak to 11 in a row. The Pirates will not compete over the Thanksgiving weekend and will return to action at the annual Husky Invitational Nov. 30 through Dec. 2nd at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way. Whitworth's next dual meet is not until January 12th when the Pirates host Seattle University. |
