Whitworth Dominates Linfield Dual Meet

SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Whitworth University swimming teams ran away with easy wins at Linfield College on Saturday. The Pirate men won 168-45 while the women ran away 157-42.

The Pirate women won all 11 events in the dual. Yasmeen Kheshgi and Brittany Gresset were double winners for Whitworth. Kheshgi won both the 500-yard freestyle (5:21.54) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:14.05). Gresset took victories in both the 50-yard freestyle (24.79) and 100-yard freestyle (54.81). Whitworth won both relays handily, taking the 400-yard medley in 4:11.22 and the 400-yard freestyle in 3:52.70.

The Whitworth men were almost as strong, winning 10 of the 11 events. Freshman Rory Buck dominated on Saturday, winning three individual events: 50 freestyle (22.10), 200-yard individual medley (2:04.52) and the 100 freestyle (48.69). Tom Radke won both the 1,650-yard freestyle (17:11.23) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:03.49). The Bucs won both relays - the 400 medley in 3:50.29 and the 400 freestyle in 3:23.25.

Whitworth will host Pacific Lutheran next Friday night in the 2008-09 home opener.
