SPOKANE, Wash. -- Whitworth's women swept all 14 events, while the Pirate men won 11 of 14 on the way to extending a Northwest Conference dual meet winning streak to 63 in a row on Saturday afternoon against visiting Whitman. Whitworth won the women's meet 192-66 and the men's meet 178-84.

Complete meet results.

The Pirate women had four double-event winners on the afternoon. Senior Brittany Gresset closed out her final home dual meet by winning the 50- and 100-yard freestyles in 24.23 and 53.72. She is the two-time defending NWC champion in both events. Another two-time defending champion, Natalie Turner, won both the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.37) and 500-yard freestyle (5:08.72) in season-best marks - indicating that she is recovering from an early-season injury that slowed her training.

Freshman Jennifer Benson, last week's NWC Women's Swimming Student-Athlete of the Week, won both the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.70) and 200-yard backstroke (2:15.14). Christine DeHaven captured the 1000-yard freestyle in 10:58.38 and the 200-yard butterfly in 2:22.38.

Rory Buck

Whitworth's men won their 63rd Northwest Conference dual meet in a row. Michael Woodward was the meet's only three-event individual winner. He won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:45.18, 500-yard free in 4:47.86 and 200-yard individual medley in 2:00.11.

Freshman Rory Buck excited the crowd by breaking a 23-year old Whitworth Aquatic Center Record in the 200-yard breaststroke. His time of 2:06.25 in the exhibition heat of the event broke the record of 2:06.26 set by Jeff Hillis of Central Washington at the 1986 NAIA Championships. Buck had won the 100-yard breaststroke in 57.63 earlier in the meet.

Senior Justin Brandler closed his home swimming career by winning the 50-yard freestyle in 22.32 and the 100-yard butterfly in a season-best 54.79.

Whitman's Noel Sollom-Brotherton won the 100-yard backstroke in 55.74 then set the Missionaries' school record while winning the 200-yard backstroke in 1:57.63.

The Pirates will conclude the 2008-09 dual meet season next Saturday at the University of Puget Sound. The meet begins at 1:00 p.m.
