SPOKANE, Wash. - Whitworth rolled to its second straight 9-0 win on Saturday afternoon, defeating visiting Pacific Lutheran in a Northwest Conference women's tennis match at the Scotford Tennis Center. The Pirates rolled through the doubles matches. Mya Towne and Linh Aven won 8-0 at #2, while Katie Staudinger and Justine Hays won by the same score at #3. Staudinger did not have a point scored against her throughout the afternoon. She went on to win her match with Mary Strang at #5 singles 6-0, 6-0. Hays defeated Jessica Wilson 6-1, 6-1 at #6 singles. Aven rolled to a 6-0, 6-2 win over Kristi Bruner at #3 singles. Rachel Burns and Alli Marshall followed up their victory at #1 doubles with straight-sets wins at #1 and #2 singles, respectively. Whitworth improved to 8-2 overall and 7-0 in the NWC. The Pirates will play Whitman, also unbeaten in NWC play, on Sunday afternoon at noon . |
