SPOKANE, Wash. - Whitworth University posted several season best times on Saturday morning and afternoon at the Sasquatch Mini Meet, hosted by the Community Colleges of Spokane. Elizabeth Mattila won twice for the Pirates, taking the 400 meter dash (1:00.09) and the 100 meter hurdles (16.00). She then anchored the Pirates to victory in the 4x400 relay (4:12.62). Jo E Mayer posted a strong time while winning the 800 meter run (2:26.08) and Kathryn Williams was solid in winning the 1,500 meter run (5:14.66). Courtney Hutchins qualified for the NWC Championship meet in her first ever javelin competition, throwing 120'-5". Emmanuel Bofa led the Whitworth men with a win in the 400 meter dash (49.72) and an anchor led on the 4x400 relay (3:20.94). Dusty Caseria won the 800 run (1:59.68), while Chris Baldwin crossed first in the 10,000 run (35:15.21). Jeff Kintner produced a mark of 50'-7.5" in the shot put. Next weekend Bofa and Cody Stelzer will compete at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships, hosted by Ohio Northern University. The rest of the team will stay in Spokane and compete at the Community Colleges of Spokane Dusty Lane Open. |
