SPOKANE, Wash. - Whitworth will send four men to this week's NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships, and all four Pirates have a chance to score. If Whitworth is able to get points from the entire quartet, the Bucs should finish with a very high team ranking, and perhaps challenge for an NCAA title.

The meet will run on Friday and Saturday at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Terre Haute, Ind.). Complete meet information, schedule and results can be found on the official website above.

Cody Stelzer
Emmanuel Bofa

Jeff Kintner

"We are very excited about the four guys that we have competing this weekend," said Whitworth head coach Toby Schwarz. "They have all put themselves in a position to challenge for the national championship in their individual events, which puts us in the mix to win the team championship."

Cody Stelzer (Jr., The Dalles, Ore.) goes into the meet seeded first in the high jump with a mark of 2.10 meters (6'-10.75"). Stelzer has plenty of experience at this event after finishing second last year and sixth as a freshman. He is also the defending NCAA Division III outdoor champion in the high jump.

Emmanuel Bofa (Jr., Puyallup, Wash.) is seeded second heading into Friday's preliminary heats of the 800 meter run with a time of 1:52.54. Last season he qualified for the indoor championships, but did not advance out of the preliminary round. However Bofa went on to earn an NCAA Division III outdoor title in the 800. The preliminary heats of the 800 will take place on Friday at 5:55 p.m. (EDT).

The Pirates will have a pair of competitors in the shot put. Michael Nahl (Jr., Seattle, Wash.) is seeded fifth with an entry mark of 16.28 meters (53'-5"), while Jeff Kintner is sixth with an entry mark of 16.06 meters (52'-8.25"). Kintner was an outdoor All-American in the shot put last season.

Both the high jump and shot put are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. (EDT) on Saturday. The finals of the 800 are scheduled for 3:35 p.m.

It is exciting to be contending for the national title, but it also brings with it a heightened level of pressure and anxiety," said Schwarz. "I am confident that these veteran guys will handle it."
