SPOKANE, Wash. - Six Boppell Track records fell and five Whitworth athletes posted NCAA Division III national qualifying marks on Saturday afternoon at the Sam Adams Classic in the Whitworth Pine Bowl.

Christi Gordon, an Idaho athlete running unattached, broke the track record in the 100 meter hurdles with a winning time of 14.25, bettering the old record of 14.46 set by PLU's Karen Andrade in 1995. Brittany Crabb of Washington State tied the track record in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:02.33. Andrade also set that one in 1995.

Whitworth's Elizabeth Mattila earned an NCAA DIII provisional mark in the 400 hurdles with a time of 1:03.90. She also led the Pirate women to a season-best time in the 4x400 relay (4:10.79).

The other women's track record that fell on Saturday was the pole vault. Alexa Huestis of WSU cleared 12'-7.5" to break the old mark of 12'-3.5" set by Emily Roberts of Eastern Washington in 2003.

Candace Missouri of WSU was a triple-winner, racing to a 12.39 in the 100 dash. She swept the long jump (18'-3.75") and the triple jump (35'-10.5").

Whitworth's Dana Misterek posted a strong conference-qualifying mark of 2:20.95 in the 800. Erica Cox tossed the hammer 146'-11", less than three feet off of Whitworth's school record (149'-10").

Trent Arrivey of WSU, Cody Stelzer of Whitworth and Deonta Edwards of CC of Spokane all cleared the old track record in the high jump (6'-10"), originally set by Linfield's Scott Radetich in 1995. Stelzer and Edwards hit 6'-10.25", while Arrivey won the event by clearing 6'-11.5". Stelzer's mark is an NCAA DIII qualifier.

There are now three men holding the track record in the pole vault. Beau Carrillo (WSU), Jeremy Klas (UI) and Lucas Pope (UI) all cleared 16'-0.75" to break the old record of 16'-0" set by Montana's Adam Bork in 2002. Carrillo won the event based on number of misses.

Idaho's James Rogan broke the field record in the hammer with a distance of 200'-7". Matt Shaffer, competing for Performance Athletic, previously held the mark of 199'-6".

Washington State's Andre Jennings won both the 100 dash (11.03) and 200 dash (22.08) and was the only double-winner in the men's meet.

Whitworth's Emmanuel Bofa cruised to a 49.10 to win the 400 dash.

In addition to Stelzer, three other Pirate men posted NCAA qualifying marks. Ron Whitley hit a provisional mark in the discus, finishing third with a distance of 158'-6". Jeff Kintner finished second in the shot put with a mark of 54'-10", which could be leading the nation at the DIII level, pending other outcomes around the country this week. Kory Kemp hit a provisional mark in the javelin with a throw of 190'-10", finishing third.

Next weekend the Pirates will compete at the Washington vs. Oregon Classic at Spokane Falls CC. The Washington team will be represented by Eastern Washington (DI), Central Washington (DII), Whitworth (DIII) and CC of Spokane (JC). The Oregon team will be comprised of Portland State (DI), Eastern Oregon (NAIA), Linfield (DIII) and Lane CC (JC).
