Welcome to Campus Ministry at Whitworth University from
Dean of Spiritual Life Terry McGonigal
Little did I know when I came to Whitworth in 1994 that I would still love this opportunity for service in the campus community nearly 18 years later. I deeply enjoy each opportunity to be with students, listening to their stories, no matter what their faith (or non-faith) background might be, sharing together the great joys and painful sorrows that life brings our way. Campus ministry at Whitworth is anchored in relationships -- relationship with God mediated through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, relationship with each other, and relationship with the broken world in which we all live and share a common responsibility. Everything we do through our programs is designed to enhance these relationships.
Our worship life is rich, varied and dynamic. Guided by our worship principles, Community Chapel (Tuesday and Thursday at 11 a.m.) and student-led contemporary service Hosanna (Tuesday at 9:45 p.m.) create a regular rhythm of worship throughout the week. Our community life is anchored in the opportunity to build relationships through our small-group ministry programs. Our education of mind and heart emphasizes the vocational connection of academic study with ministry/service. Through our service-learning program, missions projects, and global fellowship, students encounter Christians in the local community and from around the world who exemplify the best of what it means to be a servant for others.
We hope that you will take advantage of the opportunities available through campus ministry. We are here to serve you and to experience life together as members of the Whitworth community.
