Convenient Schedule for Working Adults
Earn your degree in just two years and attend classes on campus in the evening or online, depending on chosen track. On-campus classes meet just once weekly in the evening during the fall and spring semesters; courses meet twice weekly in the evening during the summer.
Program Curriculum
The M.Ed. in Teaching & Learning is a 34-credit program designed to enhance your teaching capabilities and your ability to have a positive influence upon those around you. As you gain the skills to promote healthy learning and maximize learning potential in children, you'll also gain an understanding of how to integrate faith with learning. During the required courses you'll discuss and research childhood personality development, best practices in designing curriculum, and a philosophical exploration of pressing issues that influence the delivery of education.

Whitworth recognizes the Association Montessori International (AMI) Diploma or a Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE) approved program diploma for 12 credits of graduate coursework that can be used toward the completion of the Montessori Track in the Master of Education in Teaching and Learning degree. Students selecting this option will need to take the remaining 22 credits of coursework for the degree. EDU 501 and 502 may be substituted by Montessori Surround Courses; see Teaching & Learning Degree Plan, Montessori Concentration.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to take or submit a GRE score?
Whitworth will waive the entrance-exam requirement for applicants with an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher. (If your cumulative GPA is lower than 3.0 due to first- or second-year grades, we will consider the last 90 quarter/60 semester credits of your calculated GPA). If your undergraduate GPA is below 3.0, you will be required to complete one of two options, explained here.
Can I transfer credits?
A combination of transfer, waived and alternative credits can meet up to 25% of the required credits for the M.Ed. in Teaching & Learning degree. However, a student must complete a minimum of 30 graduate credits to receive this master’s degree. Credits will be evaluated by program faculty for approval.
