Feb. 16-17 or March 2-3, 2019
Honors Colloquium is an invitation-only campus visit event for high-achieving prospective freshmen who have been admitted with honors to Whitworth for fall semester 2019. Students who are admitted with honors are invited to attend one of the two Honors Colloquium weekend events. The schedule, evaluation of participants and final selection of Honors Colloquium scholarship recipients are identical for both events. From each Honors Colloquium event, three students will be selected to receive four-year, full-tuition scholarships valued at more than $160,000, and 10 students will receive scholarships of $1,000 per year.
The event includes an interview, a group project, a discussion group with a professor, a presentation and a writing component. In addition, participants get to connect with current Whitworth students, experience campus life and take part in campus activities such as cheering on the Pirates at a basketball game, attending music and theatre performances, and participating in residence hall programs.
We welcome all incoming freshmen admitted with honors to attend one of the Honors Colloquium events, scheduled on Feb. 16-17 and March 2-3. Each program is limited to 125 participants, so we recommend you register early. Please see the online registration form for space availability. Registration will open in December 2018.
Honors Colloquium participation requires a $25 registration fee, which includes three meals, overnight accommodations with a residence hall host, and airport/bus/train shuttles (for students traveling alone). If you will be arriving earlier than the scheduled event time, or departing after the scheduled conclusion of the event, you will be responsible any additional meals. You are welcome to dine in our dining hall for $8.50.
Parents: Parents are welcome, and an optional parent program will be available during the student activities on Saturday and Sunday. Please see the event schedule for a list of activities for students and parents.
Please note: If you would like to audition for a music scholarship, music faculty will be available to conduct auditions in conjunction with each Honors Colloquium event. Please check the Whitworth Music Department site (whitworth.edu/music) for details about auditions and music scholarships, which are available to students from all majors. You will see on the website that the main music scholarship auditions will be held Feb. 2-3, 2019, but there will be additional times available on the Saturday of each Honors Colloquium weekend.
