Saturday, Sept. 2

Halls open at 9 a.m. only for those students who are new to Whitworth. Whitworth Neighborhoods residents may also check in on this day, too.

Pro tip: Avoid long check-in lines by showing up throughout the morning – there's no rush to get to your room.

(The dining hall will open for breakfast on this day.)

Monday, Sept. 4

Returning students may check into their residence halls between 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Thursday, Nov. 23

Dining hall closed for Thanksgiving Day. (Additionally, dining operations will be reduced Wednesday prior and the Sunday following Thanksgiving. Hours posted at dining hall entrance.)

Saturday, Dec. 16

Christmas Break begins: Halls close at noon (The dining hall will close after breakfast.)

Students are required to check out within 24 hours of their last final or by the closing date listed. If this presents a problem, the student must speak with his/her area coordinator as soon as possible, however, an exception may not be granted.

Students are permitted to stay in their room during break. Cost is $18/night. Financial assistance may be available through the Help-A-Pirate programStudents must contact the housing office by noon the Thursday before the halls close to receive permission. Failure to arrange access before the deadline will result in an additional charge of $100. No access/permissions will be given to students after break begins. Instead, students will need to secure off-campus housing (e.g. hotels, off-campus apartments, etc.).

Students who are not returning to Whitworth for future classes must be checked out by this date and time. Failure to do so will result in a $100/day charge.

Monday, Jan. 1 

Christmas Break ends: (The dining hall will open at dinner.)

  • Halls open at 8 a.m. for students returning to campus housing.
  • Halls open at 10 a.m. for students entering campus housing for Jan Term. Students who were not in campus housing for fall semester should report to the Hixson Union Building (HUB) between 10 a.m. and noon to pick up their room keys. If you are unable to check in at this time, please contact the housing office at 509.777.3250 or housing@whitworth.edu
Saturday, Jan. 27

Students not living on campus for spring semester classes must check out by 10 a.m. Students who have taken a Jan Term class and will continue to live on campus for a spring-semester class do not need to check out and may live on campus through Jan Term Break.

Students who are not returning to Whitworth for future classes must be checked out by this date and time. Failure to do so will result in a $100/day charge.

Monday, Jan. 29

Students starting at Whitworth for spring semester, those who did not take a Jan Term class, or those who took either Fall or Jan Term remotely may check in. Report to the Hixson Union Building (HUB) between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. for room key, housing contract, etc. If you are unable to check in at this time, please contact the Whitworth Housing Office at 509.777.3250 or housing@whitworth.edu. Alternate arrangements may be made but must be planned well in advance.

Saturday, March 23

The residence halls close at noon for Spring Break. Students are not allowed to be in the residence halls without prior permission from the housing office. Violation of this will result in at least a $100 charge plus a $75 per night. (The dining hall will close after breakfast.)

Sunday, March 31

The residence halls reopen at 8 a.m. (The dining hall will open at dinner.)

Saturday, May 18

Halls close at noon for all non-graduating students. Each student must be checked out of his/her residence hall within 24 hours of his/her last final exam. Failure to follow this policy will result in a charge of $10 for every 15 minutes a student stays late. If this time frame presents a difficulty, the student must speak with his/her area coordinator as soon as possible, however, an exception may not be granted.

Monday, May 20

Halls close at 10 a.m. for graduating students. Failure to follow this policy will result in a charge of $10 for every 15 minutes a student stays late. (The dining hall will close after breakfast.)

Students who are not returning to Whitworth for future classes must be checked out by this date and time. Failure to do so will result in a $100/day charge.

Students are not allowed to move in to residence halls early without permission from the Whitworth Housing Office. Unauthorized early move-in will result in at least a $100 charge plus a $75-per-night charge and immediate removal from the residence hall and possible additional sanctions. If you need to move belongings into the residence halls before the designated check-in time, contact the housing office. Moving belongings into the residence halls before check-in without permission from the housing office will also result in a $100 charge. With permission from the housing office, a student may move in his/her belongings early, but some charges may apply.
