Kameha Medallada, '19
Region for summer 2017: Maui
Hometown, state: Makawao, Hawai'i
Major: Biology (B.S.)
Whitworth activities/clubs: Track & field, Hawaiian Club
Most influential class: Women Writers, with Laurie Lamon, provided me with a greater appreciation for and understanding of literature. In addition, I was able to explore the writing and actions of women in the past, who dealt with key social issues that continue to be prevalent now.
What Whitworth means to me: A supportive and caring community, full of opportunities to better myself and those around me.
My favorite experience as a Whitworthian (so far): Pursuing track and field with teammates who welcome me to practice with shining smiles every day, in rain, snow or sunshine.
What I hope to do after I graduate: I hope to continue my studies, pursuing a Ph.D. in neuroscience.
Why I'm excited to be a part of the Alumni Discovery Project this year: I am excited to hear the stories of alumni who once made the decision to attend Whitworth. Having lived in many different places myself, I am intrigued to find out the details of how others came to choose Whitworth, and what their experiences as Whitworth students were like.
