Skyler Boehnke, '19
Region for summer 2017: Tri-Cities, Wash.
Hometown, state: Kennewick, Wash.
Major, minors: Psychology major, Spanish and theology minors
Whitworth activities/clubs: Women's choir, student-success coaching, Psi Chi
Most influential class or professor and why: Social Psychology, with Dr. Bruininks, since it was this class that solidified my decision to major in psychology. It encouraged me to reflect on how I view myself and how I interact with others. Also, I loved how Dr. B. structured the class so that we learned the material through the lens of current media and events.
What Whitworth means to me: Whitworth is a place of growth in all senses of the word: academic, personal, relational, spiritual. My experiences in and out of the classroom have challenged me in the best way!
My favorite experience as a Whitworthian (so far): I know this will sound cheesy, but meeting my current close friends is at the top of my Whitworth experiences. We have shared countless everyday moments together in the nearly two years we have known each other, like getting meals or just sitting in the hall; it's the little things like that that have been so special to me.
What I hope to do after I graduate: I hope to obtain my master's degree in psychology and become a mental health counselor.
Why I'm excited to be a part of the Alumni Discovery Project this year: I am excited to connect with alumni about both our experiences at Whitworth and the place we call home.
