God Made Known - Jesus' I AM Statements in the Gospel of John: The Gospel of John describes Jesus Christ as the eternal Word of God who has become human and has thus “made God known” (1:18). As Jesus says, “Whoever has seen me, has seen the Father” (John 14:9). This Only Begotten Son is the one who reveals God to us, providing unique, primary source, personal, and trustworthy access to God. Although Jesus reveals the God the Father in all he says and does, one explicit example of this revelation is his use of God’s name, I AM, in reference to himself. Jesus is the Eternal I AM, the Messiah, the Bread of Life, the Lord of Creation, the Light of the World, the One who Forgives Sins, the Gate & the Shepherd of the Sheep, the Resurrection & the Life, the Way, Truth, & Life, and the life-sustaining Vine. As we encounter him, the Spirit grows us as the loving and obedient people of God. Join us in Chapel Community Worship this semester as we come face to face with the Great I AM in the person of Jesus.
