A Helpful Financial Aid Timeline

The following timeline guides you through important dates and online processes to help you. Feel free to contact us for additional information at 509.777.3215 or finaid@whitworth.edu.

September

October/November

  • Timeline change: Historically, the FAFSA has opened on Oct. 1. However, the 2024-25 FAFSA (for students enrolling in fall 2024) will open on Dec. 31.
  • Before the FAFSA opens, please make sure all contributors (students and parents) have filed and received an FSA ID.
    • An FSA ID consists of a username and password you create to gain access to the U.S. Department of Education's online systems. An FSA ID can also serve as your legal signature when completing electronic documents. While you are not required to have an FSA ID to complete and submit a FAFSA form, it is the fastest way to sign your application and have it processed. It is also the only way to access or correct your information online, or to prefill a FAFSA form with information from your previous year's FAFSA form. You must keep your FSA ID secure and never share it with anyone.
