Understanding Your 2026-27 Financial Aid Offer: Information for International Students
To View Your Financial Aid Offer
You will need your Whitworth username and password to access Self-Service. It was sent to you in a previous email. If you have changed your password in the past, use the new one you created. If you have trouble logging in, please email the Whitworth at helpdesk@whitworth.edu.
Requirements to Receive Aid
In order to receive your financial aid award(s), you must:
- Attend Whitworth University as a full-time student (12 or more credits per term).
- Maintain a 2.0 cumulative grade-point average for renewal for next academic year.
- Abide by all federal immigration requirements, which include off-campus work limitations.
Scholarship Disbursement
Your award will be automatically credited to your Whitworth student account at the start of each semester indicated on your award. Academic scholarships are based on your excellent academic grades and/or test scores from high school or other colleges or universities. They are a source of aid that helps with tuition costs and do not need to be repaid. To assist you in your financial planning, you can expect that the amount of your financial aid will stay the same each year.
Institutional Work Program
You have the option of finding employment on campus. If you are interested in working on campus, the Whitworth Student Employment Office will help you find a position shortly before you arrive on campus. There is no guarantee of funds or employment. The institutional work program gives you the opportunity to earn money to assist with your costs. You must have a United States Social Security number in order to begin work on campus. Whitworth University can assist you with getting a Social Security number. Off-campus employment is not permitted for first-year students. Contact the Whitworth Office of International Education for more information about employment regulations for international students.
Estimated International Student Budget
This budget is an estimate to help you plan. Your actual expenses may be different.
- It is for the nine-month academic year.
- The tuition is for a full-time undergraduate student.
- Room and board costs are based on the traditional Meal Plan A with a double room shared with a roommate.
- Awards are based on you living on campus. Financial aid will change if you live off campus or with a host family.
- The international student health insurance cost listed here is an estimate and is subject to change.

Payment Timeline
- First payment due July 15.
- All new incoming international students are required to make a $4,000 commitment payment* by July 15.
If this commitment payment* is not paid on time, your Form I-20 will be canceled, which will make you ineligible to travel to the United States.
- Between July 16-Aug. 13, determine fall balance due.
- By Aug. 14, either pay fall balance in full or set up a payment plan through Transact in which equal monthly payments will be automatically withdrawn from bank account. If payment in full is not made or a payment plan is not established by Aug. 14, the student’s Form I-20 will be canceled, which will make the student ineligible to travel to the U.S.
- Payment plans must have been met and fall balances must be paid in full by Nov. 15, 2026.
Satisfactory Academic Progress
Whitworth University requires that satisfactory academic progress requirements be met by all students receiving financial aid. Satisfactory academic progress for financial aid is reviewed at the end of each semester. Students who fail to complete these minimum requirements for the first time will be placed on financial aid warning status and will be contacted by the associate director of international admissions or designee. The student will be required to either meet with and/or provide a written explanation of difficulties encountered to the international studies office. The student will provide information on what steps they have taken or will take to improve during the next term. This will serve as a means to determine if services (language courses, tutoring, etc.) need to be provided.
Failure to regain satisfactory academic progress at the end of the financial aid warning-status semester will result in the student having his or her aid suspended for the upcoming semester. Students will be notified if they have not maintained satisfactory academic progress; however, it is the student's responsibility to monitor his/her own progress, which can be done by reviewing grades on Pirate Port.
