Honors Scholarship Weekend

This is an invitation-only event for high-achieving prospective first-year students who have been admitted with honors to Whitworth for fall semester 2027. Incoming first-year students (including Running Start) who are admitted with honors are invited to attend Honors Scholarship Weekend.
Registration includes meals, an optional overnight stay in a residence hall and the Honors Scholarship Weekend program. Overnight accommodations are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and have limited availability.
Transfer students do not qualify to attend.
About the Event
Evaluation of participants and final selection of honors scholarship recipients is identical for all events. From the Honors Scholarship Weekend event, three students will be selected to each receive a four-year, full-tuition scholarship, and about 10 students will receive a semifinalist scholarship.
All students will be evaluated on the following activities. Learn more about preparing for these activities here.
- Discussion with faculty member (prior preparation encouraged)
- Group activity
- Essay (typed, computers provided)
- Individual interview
*The total value of the full-tuition scholarship assumes modest annual tuition increases over four years.
In addition to participating in the evaluated activities listed above, students will also have the opportunity to experience campus life and learn more about Whitworth. Below are some activities you may participate in while visiting campus:
- Campus tour
- Chapel service
- Department information sessions
- Honors student Q&A
- Meals in our dining hall
- Overview & financial aid presentations
- Residence hall tour
- And more!
Parents and guests are encouraged to accompany their student and participate in parent and guest activities including a mock-lecture, a faculty and staff panel and individual financial aid appointments.
When to Arrive
If this is your first visit to campus (or if you want to visit classes), then you can arrive as early as 11:45 a.m. to take advantage of lunch, two class visit times, a campus tour, and an overview and financial aid presentation. If you've already visited and want to skip the tour, class visits and overview presentations, then arrive at 2:45 p.m. and jump right into Honors Scholarship Weekend activities.
