Billing Information
Students will receive information regarding payment options from the Whitworth Student Accounting Services Office prior to the start of each term. For billing questions, please contact the office at stuaccts@whitworth.edu.
Disbursement Information
For each semester, students can anticipate receiving their first disbursement after they have attended their first class. Funds can only be disbursed if the student’s financial aid file is complete. To view disbursement requirements and disbursement dates, visit www.whitworth.edu/disbursement.
Cost Calculation
It is important that students know how their financial aid and tuition costs will change each semester. Your federal student loans are split equally each semester, though your costs change. Below is an example of how that looks for some students. Please take the time to compare your financial aid to your tuition costs to ensure you have enough funds each semester.
| Term | Credits | Cost Per Credit | Total Term Cost | Federal Unsub. Loan* | Total Aid | Cost Minus Aid |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Summer 2026 | 5 | $690 | $3,450 | $10,142 | Fed loan + scholarship/grant | -$6,692 |
| Fall 2026 | 14 | $690 | $9,660 | $10,142 | Fed loan + scholarship/grant | - $482 |
| Spring 2027 | 14 | $690 | $9,660 | $10,142 | Fed loan + scholarship/grant | - $482 |
| Summer 2027 | 8 | $690 | $5,520 | $10,142 | Fed loan + scholarship/grant | -$4,622 |
*This accounts for the origination fee that is charged by the Federal Department of Education to process and service the loan. The fee decreases for disbursements first made after October.
Federal Direct Unsubsidized Student Loan
Federal Direct Unsubsidized Student Loans are federally insured loans available to help cover the cost of higher education. Students are responsible for the interest which accrues on the loan starting from the time in which it first disburses onto the student account. To be eligible, students must complete the FAFSA. For more information about the Federal Direct Unsubsidized Student Loan program, please go to: https://studentaid.gov/understand-aid/types/loans/subsidized-unsubsidized.
Private Credit-Based Loans
If you still need additional financial aid on top of what you have been granted through the Federal Direct Unsubsidized Student Loan program, you may consider applying for a private credit-based loan.
Please be aware that the Graduate PLUS Loan program will not be available for new borrowers after July 1, 2026. Information regarding private education loans can be found on the Whitworth website at: www.whitworth.edu/cms/administration/financial-aid/private-education-loans/. On this webpage, if you click on the “FASTCHOICE” button, which is about halfway down the page, you will find information about private loans and you will find a list of institutions that provide private loans. You can then apply online directly from this site.
Employer Tuition Reimbursement Program
If you have tuition benefits through your place of employment, Whitworth will accept payment when your company pays, usually at the end of the term. All you need is a letter from your employer that states the reimbursement policy. Take that letter to the student accounts office and sign a promissory note. If your company reimburses only part of your tuition, you can request that we bill them for the amount they will pay; the balance is due upon registration. Please contact the student accounts office at stuaccts@whitworth.edu if you have questions.
