It's been a little over a year since my last interview, and much has changed -- my major, my worldview, and my ultimate calling in life. However, in the midst of these transformations, one thing remains the same: my absolute joy and delight to study at Whitworth University. In the past year, I have been stretched beyond my limits academically, spiritually, and intellectually. My mind has been probed with unthinkable questions, my heart molded by new Christ-like tenderness, and my spirit strengthened day after day. To put it simply, I feel as if my character is utterly renewed by every moment that I get to spend at Whitworth.
Shortly after my previous interview, I began to work with Young Life as a volunteer leader at Mead High School, in North Spokane. Young Life has been an incredibly influential ministry in my own life, giving me precious role models to demonstrate Christ's love to me. When the opportunity to provide this care for high school students presented itself, I could not have been more thrilled. Since my decision to volunteer as a Young Life leader, my life has been completely altered. I have the pleasure of getting to hang out with high school students every week and share the good news of Jesus with them. This opportunity to serve the Kingdom has now become my lifelong calling, as I am pursuing a theology degree with the intent of being on Young Life staff in the future. Although this is not a financially lucrative career, I have received tremendous support from faculty and staff at Whitworth, affirming God's calling in my life to pursue ministry. Much has changed in the last year, and I can't wait to see what is in store for the rest of my experience at Whitworth.
