My name is Maverick Johnston, and a maverick some say I am. I've spent my entire life in Spokane until recently, when I spent a semester in China, which changed the way I see the world today. I am a second-year student at Whitworth who throws javelin for the track and field team. I'm currently working toward a bachelor's degree in international business with an Asian studies minor, while studying the Chinese language.
During my senior year of high school, I had no idea which college out there would fit me best. After one overnight stay at Whitworth, I was sold. The simple sense of a strong community and Whitworth's safe, warm feeling is what I believe sets this school apart from the thousands of other colleges in America. Whitworth's vibe is ignited every year by its faculty, students, alumni, and donors who provide the funds to bring everyone together. I am blessed to have been given the opportunity to attend and be involved at Whitworth.
In less than two years at Whitworth I have already grown immensely spiritually, mentally, and in building a vision for my future. In just the way that Whitworth has given to me, I hope to give back at a later time.
