Positive Community Influence

Summer 2018

After graduation, I will be going on the May Term trip to China with Todd Friends and a few other Whitworth students. We will be learning about the business world in another country as well as seeing and learning more about the beautiful culture in China.

Upon returning home, I will continue my full-time job at Wendle Motors. I will be working in the Business Development Center, and I strive to use the skills I have learned throughout my marketing degree to be a valuable asset to the company.

As I reflect on the last four years of my life, I have discovered that I want to use the knowledge I have gained through this degree to influence my community in a positive way. I deeply want to help others become financially literate; I believe that through educating others on money matters we can greatly increase the well-being of many Americans.

Opportunities to Grow

April 3, 2018

I would say that the best highlight of attending Whitworth is that the staff is truly amazing and really cares about the students. My advisor, David Sloan, has been one of my greatest supporters here. Just the other day he sent me an email out of the blue to see how I was doing and to let me know that if I ever need any help that he is here for me. Any time I have had struggles he has been someone I could go to for help, or at the very least, was someone who would listen to me. The staff here make you feel like you matter and are always willing to help no matter what the problem.

Looking back at myself when I first started Whitworth, I was not sure of who I was and where I was going. However, the classes I have taken have helped me to prep and plan for the future, not just for a career but also to manage my personal life goals and ambitions. I think I have been given the skills to be a responsible and successful adult. Not only have I been given incredible opportunities, but I learned throughout my time in college just how strong I am, and that if I set my mind to something, then I can do anything.

I want to thank the donors of Whitworth. Without their help, I would not have had the opportunity to attend this school and develop these skills.

Advisors Become Mentors

Jan. 1, 2018

What is something you are excited about right now?
I am excited to be completing my group project for Integrated Marketing Communications. We are working on creating a few video advertisements that may be used to support the university. This is a project that is allowing me to be a bit more creative than I have had the opportunity to be with other projects. I am also excited about this project because it is a bit of a competition with the other groups, and I think that my team has a strong chance of winning it.

Who at Whitworth are you most grateful for?
I am most grateful for my advisor David Sloan. He has been so kind and helpful to me through my time here at Whitworth. He is someone who I have been able to come to with anything. From questions about classes, to more personal problems, he has been a strong supporter of me and my future outside of Whitworth.
