Annual Whitworth Institute of Ministry
"Love One Another As I Have Loved You."
These words of Jesus (John 15:13), spoken to his disciples on the last night of his life, succinctly express his vision for God's people, Christ's church. We are called to be people whose lives are transformed through our personal experience of God's love for us in Christ. Then through our lives and our words and our deeds and the quality of our community life we are to be Christ's ambassadors as we live out that grace-laced love.
This summer's Whitworth Institute of Ministry (WIM) will reflect on the nature of Christ's love through scripture and prayer, through fellowship and preaching, through worship and solitude. We invite you, your family, and other members of your church community to join us on the beautiful campus of Whitworth University, set in the midst of the spectacular Inland Northwest, where sky and mountains and lakes and rivers provide a rich environment for refreshment, relaxation and renewal.
We welcome the newly installed presidents of Princeton Theological Seminary (Craig Barnes) and Fuller Theological Seminary (Mark Labberton) as our co-preachers. Craig and Mark will share preaching responsibilities in our evening worship services. We also welcome Marianne Meye Thompson, the George Eldon Ladd Professor of New Testament at Fuller Seminary, as she leads our morning Bible study on Jesus' last discourse in John 13-17.
Whitworth University, in partnership with both Princeton and Fuller, is delighted to host simultaneous reunions for alumni of both seminaries during WIM. There will be special opportunities for Craig and Mark to spend time with alumni, as well as to speak about their respective visions for each seminary through luncheons and receptions.
We are excited about what God will do with us during the week of July 7-11, 2014, so please join us in Spokane, Washington, for the Whitworth Institute of Ministry.
