The Whitworth Center for Career & Professional Development offers a wide variety of ways for students to interact with employers, setting them up for career success. Save the date now for each of these sponsored events, then check back at the beginning of September for specific times and locations.

September

Sept. 5 – Welcome Fair at New Student Orientation

  • Ask career peer coaches how to get a job on campus.
  • Handshake assistance.
  • Résumé and cover letter guidance.

Sept. 7 – Career Center Open House; Career Center; 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

  • Meet the career center staff and the career peer coaches.
  • Ask any questions about jobs/résumés/cover letters/events.
  • Student employment paperwork.

Sept. 9 – Career Center Table; HUB Lied Square; 10:30 a.m.-noon

Oct. 1 – ProCloset Scholarship – Fall Term

  • Provides Whitworth students assistance for the purchase of professional clothing.
  • Apply on Handshake.

Oct. 21 – Spokane Career Trek

  • Visit local employers to learn what day-to-day life in a workplace looks like.
  • Network with potential hiring managers as well as Whitworth alumni.

Oct. 23 – Donut & Career Tips; HUB Lied Square, 10:30 a.m.-noon

  • Grab a free donut.

November

Nov. 11 – Well Dressed Workshop: Polish Style for the Professional Woman; HUB Multipurpose Room; 6:30-8:30 p.m.

  • Interactive workshop where we’ll dive into everything you need to know about professional attire.

Nov. 12 – Knot Your Average Workshop: Suit Up and Tie It Right; HUB Multipurpose Room; 6:30-8:30 p.m.

  • Designed for college men who want to step up their style game in the workplace.

Nov. 18 – Professional Headshots; Career Center

  • High quality photo for your LinkedIn or any other professional profile.

Dec. 7 – Seattle Trek Applications Due in Handshake

  • If you would like to participate in the Spring Seattle Trek, you will need to apply.
  • Information can be found in the Handshake Seattle Trek event.

Feb. 23 – Professional Workshop: Ace the Interview, Maximize the Offer; HUB Multipurpose Room; 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

  • Learn how to talk about yourself in a job interview, and how to negotiate your first salary.
  • Hear from employers about what they are expecting from today’s job applicants.

March

March 4-5 – Seattle Trek

  • Explore career opportunities in Seattle!
  • Spend two days visiting and networking with companies and alumni.

March 11 – Mock Interview Event

  • An encouraging, no-stress way to practice talking about yourself! 
  • Network with local employers and alumni.

April 7 – FUSE Career Fair, Centennial Hotel in Downtown Spokane; 2-6 p.m.

  • Over 150 employers will be ready to recruit soon-to-graduate Pirates at this region-wide career fair.
