Financial Aid

Students traveling on an approved Whitworth study abroad program are eligible to receive federal, state and institutional financial aid accordingly. Students should consult with the financial aid office about their study abroad plans and their specific financial aid.

Scholarships available through Whitworth:

  • Mary Jane Maxwell Student Travel Endowment
    For history or political studies department study programs, Core 250 abroad, or study programs in which a faculty member from the history/political studies department participates. The applicant must be a full-time student with a declared major in history or political studies, must demonstrate financial need, and must not have received the award in prior years. The amount of the scholarship will vary.

  • Pierrette Christianne Lovrien France Study Program
    Awarded every three years when there is a Whitworth France Study Program. 2.75 or higher cumulative GPA. Financial need will be considered, but is not required.

    Application process: Contact the department of world languages & cultures for application and deadline information no later than March 1 of the fiscal year prior to the France Study Program.

  • Ruth E. Baird Travel Scholarship
    Ruth Baird loved to travel, so her children established this scholarship in her name to provide scholarship funds to a philosophy student with no significant travel experience to participate in a Whitworth study program. Students in their junior or senior year with a philosophy major or minor will be given first priority for this scholarship. If no philosophy student meets the criteria, the award can be made to a deserving student from another department.
