Dr. Robert W. Heimburger, author of the book "God and the Illegal Alien: Federal United States Immigration Law and a Theology of Politics", will discuss how Christians should respond to illegal immigration. This free lecture is sponsored by the Staley Foundation and Whitworth's Theology Department. Dr. Heimburger is a theologian of ethics and politics. His book examines the history behind how so many could fall under the category of the "illegal alien" under US law, and it responds by reflecting on what it is to be a nation, to govern territory, and to do justice. As Associate Chaplain with the Oxford Pastorate, Heimburger's work promotes the integration of faith and studies. His research with the Faith and Displacement Project at the Seminario Biblico de Columbia (FUSBC) explores forgiveness after conflict in Columbia. He is also Editor of IFES Word & World. He holds an MDiv from Regent College in Vancouver and a DPhil in theology and religion from the University of Oxford.
