Poetry, Fiction Readings and Guest Lectures

Guest authors and poets visit the Whitworth campus to share their writing and to conduct workshops for students. Recent guests have included U.S. Poet Laureates Billy Collins and Donald Hall, as well as Li-Young Lee.

Rock & Sling

Whitworth's literary journal, Rock & Sling, publishes creative writing from all over the world. Students gain the kind of editing and publishing experience that’s usually only available to graduate students.

Script

Published for 17 straight years, this student-run literary journal displays the diverse range of creative student voices on the Whitworth campus.

Westminster Round

This English majors' student club organizes a variety of informal community events, such as jazz and poetry coffeehouses, film and museum outings, Christmas at Leonard's and Manito Park picnics.

The Whistle

In 1974, the Whitworth English Department initiated a newsletter to keep alumni and friends of the department in touch with faculty and apprised of events. Today, the newsletter lives on as a blog as well as on Facebook and Instagram.
