Dual Enrollment at Whitworth
The Dual Enrollment Program (i.e., Running Start) at Whitworth University provides an opportunity for high-achieving high school students in the Spokane area to take two college courses per semester (fall and spring semesters only) during their junior and senior years of high school.
Students who are at least 16 years of age and have a 3.75 cumulative high school GPA are encouraged to participate in the program.
Interested students must submit the following items to be considered for admission to Whitworth's Dual Enrollment Program:
- Dual Enrollment Program Application Form;
- Official high school transcript;
- Letter of recommendation from a school counselor or teacher recommending participation in Whitworth's Dual Enrollment Program.
The Whitworth Office of Admissions will notify dual enrollment applicants about their admission to the program within three weeks of the application being complete.
Course enrollment is contingent upon available classroom space. Dual enrollment students can register beginning on Aug. 1 for fall semester and beginning on Dec. 1 for spring semester. Dual enrollment is not available for Jan Term or May Term. Dual enrollment students should consult Whitworth's online catalog to identify courses available during their desired term of enrollment. Please keep in mind students must complete all prerequisites, or demonstrate equivalent proficiency, to register for courses with prerequisites. Dual enrollment students cannot petition to enroll in classes that are full or closed.
Dual enrollment courses are available at a significantly reduced rate of $150 per credit, plus applicable course fees. Financial aid, tuition remission and payment plans are not available for dual enrollment students. Payment in full must be made before the first day of class. Payment can be made to the student financial services office in McEachran Hall between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays.
