Junior Pirate Preview
Due to the evolving public health crisis surrounding the spread of COVID-19, all large admissions events, including Junior Pirate Preview, have been canceled.
We are grateful to share that we are currently unaware of any confirmed cases of the virus within the Whitworth community. Our campus continues to follow emergency orders required by Washington state, and the health and safety of our faculty, staff, students and guests is of the upmost importance during this time.
We encourage you to creatively explore our campus through our YouTube or interactive campus tours:
About the Preview
High school juniors, join us for this two-day, one-night event to explore campus, attend classes that interest you, discover opportunities outside the classroom and connect with members of the Whitworth community. Preview what it's like to be a student at Whitworth by spending the night in a residence hall, joining in current student activities, and learning what it takes to become a Whitworth Pirate.
Pirate Preview begins Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. and concludes Monday at noon.
Registration for this event will open in late March 2020. Event participation is $25 per student (non-refundable within 48 hours of event). Student registration includes on-campus lodging, two meals and the Pirate Preview program. To register and submit the event participation fee, please complete the online registration form. Space is limited, so please register early!
Please note: Registration is not complete until we have received your event participation fee.
As part of the Pirate Preview programs, we invite up to 125 participants to stay overnight with our current students in a residence hall on campus. Your overnight host will introduce you to other students, to residence hall programs and to campus activities. Bring your sleeping bag, pillow, towel and toiletries (a sleeping pad or air mattress is optional, but encouraged). For additional information about the overnight stay, please see our Visit FAQ.
Transportation is available between campus and the Spokane airport, train station and bus depot for students traveling without a parent or guardian. Shuttles will be scheduled on an individual basis, so please request transportation at least two weeks prior to your visit to guarantee the availability of our drivers. If you are planning to fly into Spokane, please be sure your flight arrives no later than 1:30 p.m. on Sunday and departs no earlier than 1:30 p.m. on Monday.
If you will be driving yourself to/from the airport, please allow at least 40 minutes for your drive to the Whitworth campus.
Parents and Guests
Parents and guests, we encourage you to attend Pirate Preview with your student. There is no cost to attend. Registration includes the Pirate Preview parent activities on Sunday and Monday. Meals are optional and can be purchased in the dining hall for $8.50/person. Since campus housing is limited to students, here are some suggestions for nearby accommodations.
