Campus Post Office

The campus post office is located in the Hixson Union Building. Students may receive packages/mail via USPS, FedEx, UPS and DHL. We can accept outbound prepaid packages for the following carriers only: USPS, FedEx and UPS. The campus post office sells stamps, envelopes and padded envelopes. We provide USPS Priority boxes, envelopes and padded mailing supplies. If students want to mail out their own packages, they should have their own Click-N-Ship account through usps.com so they can print postage from their computer and drop it off at the campus post office. We accept checks and debit or credit cards.

Mail must be picked up at this location as there are no deliveries to residence halls or campus houses. You will receive an email notification from the campus post office when packages are available for pick up. Letters and paper mail will be available in your mailbox, which will need to be checked regularly; we do not email you to pick up your letter mail. Receiving emails from other companies stating the item has been delivered does not mean we have processed it. You will need your university ID or other photo ID to receive all mail or packages.

All incoming students who live on campus are given a student mailbox and a key. Students will receive an email from the campus post office with their mailing information, including their student box number, when a mailbox has been assigned. This email will also include instructions and the terms of use for the mailbox and key. Students can come to the front counter during normal business hours to sign for this key and agree to the terms of use.

Mail is forwarded after graduation until Aug. 1. We are only able to forward USPS First Class and Priority mail. Parents and students may begin shipping belongings to the campus post office starting Aug. 1.

Outgoing mail will leave campus by 2:30 p.m. daily.

Student envelopes and packages should be addressed as follows:

Student Name
Student Box # _____
300 W. Hawthorne Rd
Spokane, WA 99251

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I automatically given a student mailbox when I arrive on campus?

All incoming students who live on campus are given a student mailbox and an assigned key. You will receive an email from the campus post office with your mailing information, including your student box number, when your mailbox has been assigned. This email will also include instructions and the terms of use for the mailbox and key.

When do I close my box and return my key?

Students will only turn in their student mailbox key for the following situations:

  • Graduating – the key is due the Monday after graduation.
  • Withdrawal/Hiatus – key return date will be emailed to you by the campus post office.
  • Opting to close box – Please notify the campus post office that you wish to close your box, check to make sure you have an updated forwarding address on file (see below) and return your key. Most students opt to close their box when they move off campus and no longer want/need one.

If you lose your key before graduation or other qualifying situation, you can request a copy for $15. If you fail to turn in your key, your student account will be fined $25.

What information should I have before inquiring about a lost package?

Please have your method of shipment, tracking number and information about how the package was addressed.

How much does it cost to mail/send packages through USPS?

The cost depends on the weight, size and ZIP code/country. We cannot give good estimates across the counter without that information. You can also get a close estimate by using the USPS website.

Can I have someone else pick up my mail?

No. (Some extenuating circumstances will be considered.)

What time are mail and packages available for pickup?

You will receive an email notification from the campus post office when packages are available for pick up. Letters and paper mail will be available in your mailbox. If you cannot make it to the campus post office during normal business hours, please call before we close to discuss other options.

How do I check or change my forwarding address?

Log into Pirate Port and navigate through the following links: Self-Service > User Options > User Profile > Address Change Form.
