Lindsey Smith, '20
Region for summer 2017: Greater Boise
Hometown, state: Meridian, Idaho
Majors, minor: Secondary education and English major, ELL minor
Whitworth activities/clubs: Jubilation dance ministry (chaplain and hip-hop instructor), Why Whitworth coordinator
Most influential class or professor: Educational Psychology, taught by Professor Jim Uhlenkott, because it strengthened my calling to become a teacher. My most influential class from outside my major was Physicality and Spiritual Formation, taught by Judy Mandeville, because I learned about the importance of dance ministry and how to integrate faith and movement.
What Whitworth means to me: Growth: academically, relationally, emotionally, and, most important, spiritually. The university is a source of joy in my life and I have felt so blessed to be able to attend.
What I hope to do after I graduate: I hope to become a middle- or high-school English teacher.
Why I'm excited to be a part of the Alumni Discovery Project this year: I love interacting with people and hearing their stories, and this project allows me to do just that! I am so excited to be able to meet new people and to form relationships with them.
