Whitworth prepares international senior for business career in London
Eugen Lazarenco, '15, is an international student from Moldova double majoring in economics and international business. With commencement just around the corner, Lazarenco finds himself contemplating his time at Whitworth before he heads off to London to work full time for Bloomberg L.P. as an equity analyst.
"My mindset has changed greatly during my time at Whitworth," Lazarenco says. "I have become more academically and professionally competitive, and I have gained a great amount of knowledge in and out of the classroom."
Lazarenco says he's especially grateful for the faculty in the Whitworth School of Business.
"They've always been supportive of my goals, and I'm grateful for the push they gave me to slowly carve out my career path."
Lazarenco’snew position at Bloomberg is an exact fit for the skills he developed at Whitworth, as well as for other experiences he has gained throughout his life.
"At Bloomberg I will focus on Central and Eastern Europe, which will allow me to employ my linguistic skills in an area I am familiar with," Lazarenco says. "My initial responsibilities will revolve around working in a regional team, analyzing fundamental financial statements, and eventually providing products and resources to clients such as investment banks, investors, and other financial institutions."
In addition to his coursework at Whitworth, Lazarenco worked as a student success assistant, a resident advisor, vice president of the International Club, and treasurer for the ACM Computer Science Club.
"These opportunities have helped me develop as a student, both personally and academically," Lazarenco says. "Additionally, they have improved my overall commitment to hard work."
Looking back on his experiences at Whitworth, Lazarenco advises current and prospective students to make the most of their time as a student.
"Students should not let these times pass them by," he says. Instead, he urges them to "take advantage of the opportunities that Whitworth provides."
