Each year, the Dornsife Center hires students who are passionate about a wide variety of issues affecting our communities today. These "passion-based" advocates are commissioned to go out and find how the local Spokane community is already working to address these issues and then partners with them through volunteering and recruiting their peers to join in the work. This asset-based approach recognizes that our community partners are already positioned to know the needs of the community and the best ways to address them. Our advocates work to increase the capacity of these organizations.
Advocate areas of service include:
- Community health
- Community safety
- Cultural enrichment
- Food security
- Women, gender and sexuality
- Graphic design
- Environment and sustainability
